How I Met My Mother

There’s this nursing student studying at Sacred Heart College. She’s kind, humble, and resourceful. Her friends were fantastic; they always helped her if there was a certain medical process she couldn’t understand and she appreciates that, for she knew she couldn’t do it alone. She eats Pancit Canton for dinner -but she didn’t mind it at all. She had a mindset that her four years of struggle would all be worth it. And soon she could buy all the food she wanted. Her four years has passed and it was now her turn to take the nursing board exam.  During their review most of her classmates would take breaks to calm them and give themselves little treats. They would usually buy those delicious doughnuts with pretty coatings on top and hamburgers.

They always invited her to come with them but she also always turned them down. It was because she didn’t have any money to spend and also because she doesn’t have the luxury to take breaks during review. Instead of joining them she’d rather hear mass at church, 3 times a day for everyday during her review.

The big day had arrived. It was her examination day and she was prepared. The exam would be held for 3 days, she knew that. But what she didn’t know was that they would not be allowed to go outside the gates for 3 days as well. She panicked. She doesn’t have the money to buy food from the Cafeteria. She only had enough for her Pancit Canton. It took her all her will and courage to finally make a phone call home asking them to send her money. This decision was too much for her for it was not in her nature to ask. For she was always contented with what she received she couldn’t ask for more. But this time she had no choice.

Her sister came to her rescue and gave her Php 500.00 –she never forgot that. 3 months after finishing the exam she immediately went looking for a job. She bought a printed resume on a sidewalk worth 2 pesos and went to hospitals to look for a job vacancy. During an interview, the interviewer asked her if she had passed the board exam. She said yes. The results weren’t out yet but she was sure she passed the exam. She studied. She prayed. She worked hard. She was sure she passed the bored exam. And she was right. She did pass her board exam.

Kids, this was my Mom 22 years ago. She is a legend. I always tell her that if there were a twist of faith and we ended up on the same age, school, course, and class. That we wouldn’t be friends. I don’t like admitting what I lack, I don’t like not being to afford a doughnut and not complain about it. I can’t wear the same pair of shoes for fours years of college. And I don’t have the guts to get a job before the result came out. (Though given that I’m not a nursing student.) Mom and I are two different people. You have no idea how many time I’ve asked her if she was really my biological mother and if I was adopted. She would always smile at me and say that I’m the fruit of her womb carefully made inside her tummy for 9 months.

LONG STORY SHORT, I LOVE YOU MOM.

Mum went all passive after reading. I wonder if its because of my lovely handwriting or the fact that I asked on paper.

Kidding aside. I forgot to blog about how I got my first salary. My cousin Ate Rochelle recommended me to one of her clients to do her daughter’s AVP and tarps for her debut last March. I was really giddy about all this since I get to test my limited skills and knowledge about editing.

For the video, I used Pinnacle and Sony Vegas to give me the edge I was looking for. I had Qwerty and The Parasites (IT Classmates slash BFF) to thank for all of these since they really gave me the courage to finish the job and the resources I needed and of course God for the opportunity. Pressure was really pumping me for I was really aiming to please the birthday girl. (Sorry for the bad resolution here)

Does it look familiar? It’s Avril Lavigne! Yes I’m a huge Avril fan. I got the idea of the background from one of her promotional posters and edited it out.

As for the photo wall the file size was too big and my post can only take so much.

So there. Sorry if this post bored you to death, and if you’re reading up until here thank you. All is well!

Goodnight Tumblr!

As Long As There’s Someone Older Than Us, We are Young.

I had a wonderful time with my friends yesterday. We initially went to Robinson’s Ermita to try the Happy Lemon that opened a couple of days earlier but due to the long line we can’t bare to wait any longer because our movie is going to start soon. That’s why we settled for my second great love Gong Cha. Battleship was really wonderful as well. We had a great time watching it and laughed our way out of the cinema when we realized most of the people watching with us where older people. I find that very cute.

Afterwards we ate at Kangaroo Jack to satisfy our hunger. Php 160.00 for a buffet and bottomless red iced tea really did hit the spot.

Le food. Le colorful food.

I guess this really draws the line with friends and close friends, goofing off isn’t something you should apologize about.

I’m really glad Rhiz came along with us. She really double the Fun! (Yes. Fun deserves a capital F.)

Till next time!

Hiatus No More.

I’ve been thinking why I’m feeling a bit off lately. Then I realized it was because I stopped blogging. I did gazillions of things this summer. Thank God! I’m really having the time of my life. I feel so young, adventurous and free.

Awesome things in bullets.

  • Mom is on vacation!
  • We haz bajillions of food on the fridge
  • She bought me awesome stuff
  • My sister’s graduation

And I’m going to blog the rest.

Happy Summer! <3
